Settlement Music
How do you extend learning out of the classroom into communities? What impact do you see from this?
Settlement Music creates deeper connections with communities through students creating deeper connections with their parents/guardians. By strengthening these connections through sharing learning styles with families, Settlement Music creates a thread of music education that can extend even further into communities. Shared practicing of education empowers students, families and communities to embrace creativity and education in their daily lives.
“Music Education Pathways believes that the diverse learners in our classrooms require non-exclusionary teaching and learning practices to achieve educational equity. There can be inherent challenges in typical educational settings unless non-exclusionary teaching and learning practices are used. Inclusive practices range from open discussions about how we all learn in different ways and at different paces, to students working as a collective to guide their learning, to building relationships with families to better addresses learning differences… Together we are a curious, creative, and deeply committed team.”
